Longtime New Jersey resident Harvey Bell is a supporter of Israel. In particular, Harvey Bell is a member of the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
AIPAC empowers pro-Israel activists in the United States to promote US-Israel relations. The organization encourages activists to advocate for the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act of 2019 (S.1) and to urge their elected leaders to promote actions in line with the act’s bipartisan initiatives that support Israel’s security.
Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, faces a growing number of threats that stem from instability in the region. S.1 seeks to help Israel defend itself on its own by authorizing security assistance to the country over the next decade.
AIPAC is advocating Congress to support a combined $3.8 billion in security assistance to Israel by 2020. This funding is less than 1 percent of the federal budget and could save US taxpayers from the high cost of wars and other humanitarian disasters in Israel.
